MFDS and Drug Safety Management Agency "Report Adverse Drug Reactions"
[Asia Economy Reporter Seo So-jeong] The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (Commissioner Kim Gang-rip) and the Korea Institute of Drug Safety & Risk Management (Acting Director Kang Min-ho) are conducting the '2021 Drug Safety Campaign' from October 1 to 10 in collaboration with 28 regional drug safety centers nationwide.
This event was organized to coincide with Senior Citizens' Day (October 2) and Pregnant Women's Day (October 10) to raise awareness among patients and caregivers about reporting adverse drug reactions, to collect and analyze diverse adverse reaction information, and to strengthen safety measures based on this information, thereby fostering a culture of safe drug use. This year marks the first time that all regional centers nationwide are participating together.
During the campaign period, the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety and the Korea Institute of Drug Safety & Risk Management will conduct various educational and promotional activities to inform the public about the importance of reporting adverse drug reactions and how to report them, while each regional center will operate counseling desks for adverse reactions.
Additionally, the campaign slogan, "My adverse reaction information becomes safer the more I share it," will be handwritten and participants will post photos of their handwritten slogans on the Korea Institute of Drug Safety & Risk Management's social media (SNS), followed by nominating the next participant in a 'Handwriting Relay Event.'
Among the participants, 100 people will be selected by lottery to receive commemorative gifts. Detailed information can be found on the Korea Institute of Drug Safety & Risk Management website (drugsafe.or.kr) and other sources.
