'Squid Game' Effect, Netflix Stock Hits All-Time High
[Asia Economy Reporter Byunghee Park] Due to the effect of the drama 'Ojingeo Game' (Squid Game), Netflix's stock price reached an all-time high on the New York Stock Exchange on the 30th of last month (local time).
According to Bloomberg News, on that day, Netflix's stock price closed at $610.27, up 1.9% from the previous trading day.
Although the New York Stock Exchange has been significantly volatile this week due to inflation concerns caused by energy supply shortages and the federal government's default risk, Netflix's stock price actually rose by 3%.
This is because of expectations that Netflix subscribers will increase as 'Ojingeo Game' gains worldwide popularity. Netflix faced difficulties earlier this year due to a slowdown in subscriber growth, but there is a forecast that 'Ojingeo Game' could mark a turning point.
