Gyeonggi-do announced on the 1st that it has decided to cancel the "67th Gyeonggi-do Sports Festival," which was scheduled to be held in the Paju-si area from the 28th to the 30th of this month. The province also canceled the event last year due to the spread of COVID-19.
The province had previously canceled the 32nd Gyeonggi-do Sports for All Festival (August) and the 11th Gyeonggi-do Disabled Sports Festival and Gyeonggi-do Disabled Sports for All Festival (early September).

A provincial official stated, "We tried to hold the Gyeonggi-do Sports Festival, but due to the ongoing spread of COVID-19 in the metropolitan area, we had no choice but to cancel the event," adding, "We will do our best to ensure that all Gyeonggi-do Comprehensive Sports Festivals can be held normally next year."
