The Seoul Metropolitan Autonomous Police Committee held its first "Related Agencies Working Council" on the 30th of last month in the Autonomous Police Committee meeting room, with attendees from Seoul City Hall, Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education, and committee officials.

They specifically discussed inter-agency cooperation matters such as women's safety and measures to reduce traffic fatalities and agreed to mutually cooperate.
According to Seoul City on the 1st, the Autonomous Police Committee of the city hosted the '1st Related Agencies Working Council' the previous day. The Related Agencies Working Council is an organization established under the ordinance concerning the organization and operation of the Seoul Metropolitan Autonomous Police Committee and its police affairs. It is chaired by the Autonomous Police Committee to facilitate the smooth execution of autonomous police duties and to coordinate local administration and public safety administration tasks.
The first meeting was divided into women's safety measures and traffic fatality reduction measures. Starting with explanations of the progress of each agenda item, discussions continued on future cooperation regarding these projects.
Regarding women's safety measures, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's Community Safety Division, Seoul City's Special Task Force for Single-Person Households, and Gender Equality Officer discussed cooperation plans related to crime prevention for women, including ▲ hiring safety village security personnel and installing safety door guards in areas densely populated by single-woman households ▲ providing safety equipment support for single-woman households (stores) ▲ inspecting illegal filming in restrooms and conducting prevention campaigns. In particular, Seoul City and the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency discussed joint promotion of the safety door guard project requested by Seoul City, participation of Crime Prevention Officers (CPO) in the safety equipment support review committee, and regular joint inspections for illegal filming.
Additionally, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's Women and Youth Division and Seoul City's Rights Protection Officer discussed cooperation plans related to women's protection and support policies, including ▲ additional placement of counselors at the 'Hope Center,' a counseling and investigation agency for victims of violence against women, children, and the disabled ▲ preparation for the opening of the 'Sunflower Center,' an institution supporting sexual violence victims. As a result of the discussions, Seoul City and the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency agreed to increase counselors at the Hope Center, support police personnel for the new Sunflower Center, and derive efficient protection measures for socially vulnerable groups such as women and sexual violence victims.
Regarding the reduction of traffic fatalities, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's Traffic Safety Division, Seoul City's Traffic Operations Division, and the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education's Policy Safety Planning Officer shared the seriousness of the recent increase in traffic accidents and discussed cooperation plans related to ▲ measures to reduce traffic fatalities ▲ strengthening traffic safety in school zones.
Accordingly, Seoul City and the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency requested mutual cooperation on the prompt restoration of damaged pedestrian safety facilities and expansion of installation locations, strengthening on-site enforcement to prevent traffic accidents, and jointly conducting traffic accident prevention campaigns. Furthermore, Seoul City, Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, and Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education agreed to jointly explore plans to improve traffic safety facilities in school zones, strengthen enforcement against illegal parking and speeding during school commute times, expand the deployment of model drivers around elementary schools, and enhance collaboration with the Green Mothers' Association.
Kim Seong-seop and Lee Sang-ryul, co-chairs of the Working Council, stated, “Seoul City, Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, and Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education will strive to derive highly effective cooperation measures suitable for the autonomous police system through the working council and do their best to create a city where women can feel safe and where there are no traffic accident fatalities.”
