[Muan＝Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Oh Hwan-joo] Jeollanam-do Muan-gun (Governor Kim San) announced on the 30th that it has completed the creation of a cosmos flower field covering approximately 16,000㎡ along the walking path around Mongtan Nojeok to allow tourists visiting Sikyeongjeong in autumn to heal while strolling.

Sikyeongjeong is a pavilion built by Joseon Dynasty scholar Hanho Imyeon, who returned after the Byeongjahoran War, to spend his later years and nurture disciples. It has a history of being visited by numerous poets and scholars.

From Sikyeongjeong, visitors can see the vast landscape of the Yeongsan River like the sea, and the surroundings blend with old trees, making it famous as the most beautiful pavilion along the Yeongsan River to view the river and fields.

Recently, after the opening of the Yeongsan River Riverside Road (Naju Yeongsan Bridge to Muan Mongtan Bridge) and Seungdalsan Meeting Road (Cheonggye Cheongsuri to Mongtan Daechi-ri), the number of tourists visiting Sikyeongjeong has increased. In addition to enjoying the scenery around the river, a cosmos flower field was created so visitors can heal while walking along the wooden deck of the Yeongsan River’s second scenic spot, Mongtan Nojeok, located under the pavilion.

The cosmos near the Sikyeongjeong walking path, sown in mid-August, has overcome the monsoon season and begun to bloom beautifully, harmonizing with the blue Yeongsan River to display a stunning view.

Governor Kim San said, “I hope many people visit Mongtan Sikyeongjeong this autumn to enjoy the mystical scenery of the Yeongsan River and the cosmos-filled flower field walk,” and added, “Next year, we will continue to work on enhancing the Sikyeongjeong landscape to heal the bodies and minds of residents and tourists exhausted by COVID-19.”
