Naju City Promotes 'Eco-Friendly Agriculture Infrastructure Project'
[Naju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Naju City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Kang In-gyu) announced on the 30th that it is promoting the "Eco-friendly Agriculture Infrastructure Construction Project" organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs targeting the agricultural corporation Jayeongwa Nongbudeul (CEO Kim Young-shin) located in Nampyeong-eup.
The eco-friendly agriculture infrastructure construction project is aimed at inducing joint management such as production and distribution of eco-friendly agricultural products in collectivized fields and farmland areas, and improving and preserving a sustainable eco-friendly agricultural environment.
Project funds are supported only for complexes and districts with excellent results in eco-friendly agricultural product production and distribution, such as an increase in eco-friendly certification area, and where all certified farms have paid the mandatory eco-friendly agricultural product self-help fund.
‘Jayeongwa Nongbudeul’ (CEO Kim Young-shin), selected in last year’s Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs public contest, produces eco-friendly carrots, spinach, cucumbers, and zucchini, supplying them as school meal ingredients to schools in Seoul, Gyeonggi, Gwangju, and Jeonnam regions.
The city plans to invest a total project cost of 720 million KRW, including about 200 million KRW in national funds, about 360 million KRW in local funds, and about 140 million KRW in self-payment, to support improvements in eco-friendly agricultural product distribution facilities, a refrigerated loading vehicle (3.5t), a forklift (2t), and one refrigerated warehouse.
Mayor Kang In-gyu said, “We will make efforts to select national fund public projects for expanding eco-friendly certification areas and building agricultural infrastructure to provide healthy and safe food and increase farmers’ income.”
