'Shinhan Play Unpack Show' Declares Second Startup

[Asia Economy Reporter Ki Ha-young] Shinhan Card is evolving into a platform company with 30 million members. Through the Shinhan pLay super app strategy, the company plans to increase its current membership of 27.5 million to 30 million by next year.
Shinhan Card announced on the 30th that it held an unpack show at the Community House Masil in Jung-gu, Seoul, under the concept of "Let's pLay, adding Life to pay," signaling a new beginning as a lifestyle finance platform company through Shinhan pLay, which adds lifestyle to finance. Shinhan Financial Group Chairman Cho Yong-byeong and VIPs attended the event.
At this unpack show, Shinhan Card presented a new vision of the company pursuing the true completion of customers' lives by integrating financial and non-financial areas through Shinhan pLay, which is evolving from a simple payment platform to a lifestyle finance platform. The strategy is to add lifestyle (Life) to finance (Pay) to deliver enjoyable daily life (pLay) to customers, and to add non-financial (Life) to the card business (Pay) to transform into a "Life & Finance (hereinafter Life & Finance) platform company."
Focusing on integration, speed, and enhanced personalization features, Shinhan pLay is scheduled to be newly introduced to customers early next month. Applying the "Shake & Slide" technology (executing payment by shaking the smartphone or using the home screen edge panel), the representative payment service was introduced as a lifestyle finance app tailored to the user, enabling payment functions to be completed in one step through facial automatic authentication. The integrated super app service will provide not only payment, banking, and asset management but also partnership integrated membership accumulated with a single barcode, wallet services such as ID and authentication, and customized content based on customer interests, covering non-financial areas throughout daily life.
The unpack show, hosted by Shinhan Card President Lim Young-jin, was attended by Shinhan Financial Group Chairman Cho Yong-byeong, group executives, and figures from various fields. In connection with the metaverse business, Shinhan Card stated that the event featured various types of ceremonies through avatars of the attending VIPs, demonstrating a sense of unity without spatial limitations, which was another highlight of the event.
