Squid Game, This Time 45.6 Billion 'Account Leak' Controversy... "Prearranged Agreement"
"Number Used After Prior Coordination in the Production Process"
[Asia Economy Reporter Na Ye-eun] Amid controversy over the fact that the personal phone number and bank account number shown in the Netflix drama "Squid Game" are real, Netflix has clarified that this was "pre-arranged with cooperation."
On the 27th, Netflix stated regarding the controversy over the leaked bank account number in "Squid Game," "We cannot disclose the owner of the account number, but the number used was agreed upon in advance during the content production process."
Recently, a post titled "Owner of the 45.5 Billion Won Account in Squid Game" was uploaded on an online community. The author claimed, "The bank account shown on the card received by the last survivor in 'Squid Game' is an actual existing account."
They added, "I wonder whose it is. Could it be a 'Squid Game' staff member?"
The photo shared by the author showed an attempt to transfer money using the account number appearing in "Squid Game," with a message on the screen asking, "Do you want to transfer 1 won to XXX?" This raised suspicions that the account might be actively used by someone.
Additionally, "Squid Game" previously faced controversy when the phone number shown in the drama was revealed to be a real personal mobile number. The victim expressed through a media outlet, "I am receiving thousands of calls and messages day and night, making daily life difficult."
In response, the "Squid Game" team stated, "We are currently in continuous communication with the victim and are working to resolve the issue."
