Gwangju Seo-gu 'Complete Conquest of Chronic Diseases & Healing Nutrition Class' Operation
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Shin Dong-ho] Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Seo Dae-seok) announced on the 27th that it will operate the ‘Complete Conquest of Chronic Diseases, Healing Nutrition Class’ program for effective management of chronic diseases among local residents.
This program provides bean sprout and mushroom kits to relieve depression and stress caused by the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, and also conducts small-group intensive face-to-face education to enable low-sodium diet intake at home.
Any Seo-gu resident who is a chronic disease patient or in the pre-stage high-risk group can participate, and from the 13th to the 29th of next month, priority will be given to those who have completed vaccination, with recruitment on a first-come, first-served basis.
The program will be held from November 10 to 26, divided into Wednesday and Friday classes, starting at 2 p.m. for about 2 hours, over 3 weeks.
The face-to-face education will cover topics such as diet exchange methods, ways to reduce sodium intake, meal diary writing, and low-sodium cooking methods.
Participants who post photos of the bean sprout and mushroom kit cultivation process and completed low-sodium dishes on KakaoTalk and write reviews will receive small prizes if selected as outstanding.
The Sangmu Kumho Health Life Support Center operates health counseling and education, supports diabetes complication test fees, and offers free rental services for blood pressure and blood glucose meters to help chronic disease patients manage their health independently.
A center official said, “Through kit cultivation and low-sodium cooking activities experienced at home, this will be a good opportunity to relieve stress caused by COVID-19 and to prevent and manage chronic diseases by practicing a low-sodium diet.”
