Jeong Cheong-rae "Gwak Sang-do's son 5 billion? They are inviting trouble... Who does Hwacheon Daeyu belong to?"
Jeong Cheong-rae's Scathing Criticism Toward Kwak Sang-do

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyun-joo] It has come to light that the son of Gwak Sang-do, a member of the People Power Party, received 5 billion KRW as severance pay and other payments from the asset management company Hwacheon Daeyu Asset Management (Hwacheon Daeyu), which is at the center of the so-called 'Daejang-dong development preferential treatment suspicion,' sparking controversy. In response, Jeong Cheong-rae, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, strongly criticized, saying, "Are you making 5 billion KRW? Do you earn 5 billion KRW by working hard?"
On the 26th, Representative Jeong posted on his Facebook, "An unprecedented incident has occurred. After working for six years in his early 30s, he earned 5 billion KRW in severance pay, an achievement that even a crown prince in the Joseon Dynasty would not dare to accomplish," and questioned, "You criticized Moon Jun-yong so much, but is your own son's 5 billion KRW severance pay just pocket change earned through hard work at the expense of his health?"
Representative Jeong predicted the response strategy of Gwak and the People Power Party regarding the suspicion. He said, "The Gwak Sang-do scenario would be: 'I didn’t know. To avoid bringing shame to the party, I will temporarily leave the party. I will return after proving my innocence,'" and "The People Power Party scenario would be: 'This happened because of Lee Jae-myung. Accept the special investigation on Lee Jae-myung (stalling for time). Gwak Sang-do should temporarily leave the party.'"
He continued, "The Yoon Seok-youl and Hong Joon-pyo type scenario would be: 'No one is an exception to the law and principles. Investigate without any sanctuary. Lee Jae-myung should also be investigated,'" and added, "I think they will roughly say something along these lines."
Then Representative Jeong sarcastically said, "People Power Party, whose Hwacheon Daeyu is it? I will see how long you keep the backdrop (banner) that says 'Whose Hwacheon Daeyu is it?' hanging in your office. Whose Hwacheon Daeyu is it? Ask Gwak Sang-do," mocking them.

He said, "Even the son of God cannot reach this level. According to some reports, the usual severance pay in such cases is about 25 million KRW, but Gwak’s son received a whopping 5 billion KRW, which is 200 times that amount," and questioned, "The amount of severance pay is surprising, but what’s even more astonishing is the audacity of the face that claimed to have received a monthly salary of 2 to 3 million KRW. Whose side is Hwacheon Daeyu really on?"
