"Noel's Criminal Acts, Jang Je-won Provides Confidence... Petition to Remove His Assembly Seat Appears on Blue House"
"Jang Je-won Shameless Despite Son's Criminal Acts"
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoon Seul-gi] Rapper Noel (21, real name Jang Yong-jun) has caused controversy due to unlicensed drunk driving and assaulting a police officer, and a petition has emerged demanding the removal of his father, Jang Je-won, a member of the People Power Party, from his parliamentary position.
On the 23rd, a petition titled "We want the removal of Jang Je-won, the father of Jang Yong-jun, from his National Assembly seat" was posted on the Blue House National Petition Board. The petitioner stated, "The confidence that allowed Jang Yong-jun to commit such acts existed because of his father, National Assembly member Jang Je-won," and added, "I wonder if the suspended sentence given as punishment for his past crimes would have been possible without his father being a member of the National Assembly."

The petitioner continued, "Unlike in the past, nowadays drunk driving is naturally recognized as a murderous act," and criticized, "It is a vulgar act that lacks any dignity as a member of the National Assembly to shamelessly appear before the public without reflecting on or correcting his son's repeated murderous acts, instead only blaming other politicians."
Furthermore, the petitioner said, "In the current social atmosphere where ordinary people and celebrities alike are cautious with their words and actions, hiding quietly, fearing being destroyed by news and public opinion for a single wrong word, the behavior of Assemblyman Jang Je-won and his son resembles that of vulgar kings and clueless royalty, which makes me angry," and added, "I believe such individuals should never be entrusted with public duties."
The petitioner also stated, "I feel a sense of self-disgust that the strict and fearsome national authority for ordinary citizens is so laughable to these families," and declared, "I want the removal of Jang Je-won from his National Assembly seat, as he provides confidence for Jang Yong-jun's criminal acts (unlicensed driving, drunk driving, driver substitution, assault, obstruction of official duties, habitual offenses)."
Earlier, on the night of the 18th around 10:20 PM, Noel caused a minor collision while driving a Mercedes-Benz in Banpo-dong, Seocho-gu, Seoul. Police who arrived at the scene requested a breathalyzer test and identification, but he refused and headbutted a police officer, leading to his arrest on the spot.
The day after the incident, on the 19th, Noel apologized via his social media, saying, "I have nothing to say. I will accept all the punishment I deserve and strive to become a more mature member of society."
