Intromedic Signs Business Agreement with Gyeongsangbuk-do for 'Remote Collaboration and Bio-Cluster Development'
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] IntroMedic, a medical imaging device specialist company, announced on the 23rd that it has signed a business agreement with Gyeongsangbuk-do to establish a ‘Remote Collaboration and Bio Cluster.’
Gyeongsangbuk-do and IntroMedic plan to create a remote collaboration and bio cluster on a 20,000-pyeong site in the new city of the Gyeongbuk Provincial Government Office, attracting and nurturing promising companies and research institutes, and establishing it as a Gyeongbuk-type cluster model leading the remote collaboration and bio industries.
IntroMedic will ensure that the cluster is established based on autonomy and creativity. Support for resident companies will be provided through attracting companies, building a cluster platform using the metaverse, and creating an investment fund that shares outcomes with residents through investments in resident companies.
The capsule endoscopy screening pilot project for residents in medically underserved areas is a project that screens small intestine diseases using capsule endoscopy developed by IntroMedic. IntroMedic will supply medical fees, capsule endoscopies, and related solutions for the pilot project, while Gyeongsangbuk-do will select and guide eligible participants and be responsible for policy promotion of the capsule endoscopy pilot project.
Kwon Hyuk-chan, CEO of IntroMedic, said, “This business agreement signifies that our capsule endoscopy diagnostic solution, recognized in the global market for its top technology, will be introduced as the first local government pilot project in Korea together with Gyeongsangbuk-do,” adding, “Based on the results of this agreement, IntroMedic plans to expand insurance coverage starting with medically underserved areas and basic livelihood recipients and to expand capsule endoscopy screening services nationwide.”

He continued, “We expect this pilot project to reduce gaps in health care services for residents in medically underserved areas of Gyeongsangbuk-do and to increase satisfaction with health care service policies,” emphasizing, “IntroMedic will also actively cooperate to promote Gyeongsangbuk-do’s administration through Cyworld, in which IntroMedic is a major shareholder.”
