President Moon's Return... "Showed Our Unwavering Commitment to Peace"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] President Moon Jae-in, who visited the United States to attend the 76th United Nations General Assembly, evaluated on his way back home that "we demonstrated our unwavering commitment to peace on the 30th anniversary of the simultaneous UN membership of South and North Korea."
On the 22nd (local time), President Moon stated through social networking services (SNS), "We proposed a Korean Peninsula end-of-war declaration involving South Korea, North Korea, and the U.S., or South Korea, North Korea, the U.S., and China, and the international community responded with empathy."
President Moon said, "North Korea submitted its first 'Voluntary National Review' on the implementation status of the Sustainable Development Goals to the UN in June," adding, "North Korea's participation in sustainable development is very welcome. If South and North cooperate, it could become a path to peace on the Korean Peninsula."
President Moon emphasized, "At this UN General Assembly, I felt both the elevated national stature of the Republic of Korea and the heavy responsibilities," and added, "There were visible achievements toward becoming a global vaccine hub, including progress in the 'Korea-U.S. Global Vaccine Partnership' agreed upon last May."
He also praised, "It was a historic event that BTS performed 'Permission to Dance' on the stage of the UN General Assembly, confirming our new status," and said, "I especially want to express my gratitude and pride to BTS."

Following his attendance at the UN General Assembly, President Moon visited Honolulu, Hawaii, to preside over the Korea-U.S. mutual transfer ceremony of war remains.
