The aging and population decline in farming and fishing villages, which are primarily based on agriculture and fisheries, is not only a crisis for national food security but also linked to the disappearance of rural areas, making the issue increasingly serious.
To address these problems and revitalize rural areas, it is urgent to implement various policies to foster and support young farmers and fishermen and to promote the return of young people who empathize with the development potential of rural areas.
Accordingly, Assemblyman Yoon Jae-gap proposed a law to designate August 8th each year as Youth Farmers and Fishermen's Day, symbolizing "active and vibrant young people," as a way to invigorate young farmers and fishermen and boost their pride.
Assemblyman Yoon said, "I will continue to make relentless efforts to provide legal and institutional support and secure related budgets to foster young farmers and fishermen who are creating new value for the future agriculture of the Republic of Korea."
