Deloitte Anjin Holds Monthly 'Deloitte Monthly GES Webinar'
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jihwan] Deloitte Anjin Accounting Firm announced on the 16th that it plans to hold the ‘Deloitte Monthly GES Webinar,’ which explains global mobility-related tax issues and trends every month from September this year to January next year for major domestic corporate HR and tax officers.
The ‘Deloitte Monthly GES Webinar,’ the first regular webinar attempt in the industry, was planned to easily provide domestic and international tax issues, revised tax laws, and related tax knowledge online without location restrictions to key client practitioners who continue remote work while adhering to social distancing and other quarantine guidelines due to the prolonged non-face-to-face trend triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Starting in September and continuing until January next year, the ‘Deloitte Monthly GES Webinar,’ held once a month for one hour over a total of five sessions like a monthly publication, will focus on tax issues related to foreign workers working in Korea under the main theme of ‘Global Mobility.’
For foreign workers working in Korea, the scope of tax reporting, overseas financial account reporting, taxable income, as well as immigration-related regulations vary widely depending on the type and characteristics of work such as short-term or long-term stay, making it a challenging area in actual work.
Experts from Deloitte Anjin’s Tax Advisory Headquarters GES (Global Employer Service) Group plan to provide case-based, practice-oriented core knowledge and, if necessary, customized tax clinics for complex tax issues tailored to participating companies.
In the first webinar held on the 27th, led by Wang Seongsuk, GES Group Director and global mobility tax expert, Kim Dongyun, GES Group Director, will explain in detail the scope of taxable income, applicability of a single tax rate, overseas financial account reporting obligations, and other changes in tax reporting obligations for foreign executives who have stayed in Korea for more than five years, based on actual cases.
In October, the topic will be ‘Tax Payment Obligations of Foreigners on Business Trips to Korea,’ in November, ‘A Preparation Guide for Foreign Visa Types Changing According to Length of Stay’ will be introduced. In December, the topic will be ‘Tax Management Methods Related to Overseas Parent Company Stock Compensation Income,’ and the final session will cover ‘A Comprehensive Review of the 2022 Revised Income Tax Act and Key Checklists for 2021 Foreign Income Tax Reporting.’
