'Exciting Gyeonggi-do Where Children Are Happier'... 6.9321 Trillion Won Invested Over 5 Years
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province will promote 103 projects over five years, including fostering elementary sports clubs and systematizing public care for disaster preparedness, to create a "more joyful Gyeonggi Province where children are happier."
Gyeonggi Province announced on the 16th that it has established the "1st Gyeonggi Province Child Policy Basic Plan" (2021?2025) through deliberation and resolution by the Gyeonggi Province Child Welfare Deliberation Committee.
This basic plan is the first mid- to long-term plan in the child sector established according to the revised "Ordinance on Child Protection and Welfare Promotion in Gyeonggi Province" amended last year.
According to the policy direction of the basic plan, the province will expand existing projects and discover and promote new projects over the next five years.
The plan is composed of a vision of "a more joyful Gyeonggi Province where children are happier," with four promotion strategies, 12 policy tasks, and 103 detailed tasks. The province plans to secure a total project budget of 6.9321 trillion won to implement the detailed tasks.
The four promotion strategies are ▲ children's participation and realization of rights ▲ support for healthy growth of children ▲ strengthening meticulous child care ▲ child policies responding to environmental changes.
Key tasks by promotion strategy include first promoting projects that reflect a child-centered perspective in various policies to shift recognition to "children as rights holders." New projects such as holding the Gyeonggi Province Child Policy Forum to share excellent policies of basic local governments and gather expert opinions are being prepared.
Next, to enhance children's creative problem-solving abilities through a balance of play and learning in enjoyment, various experiential education programs and fostering of elementary sports clubs will be supported. To strengthen the child care system, the operation of various child care facilities and support for independence of low-income and child facility protection-exited children will continue.
Finally, to respond to the changed parenting environment due to COVID-19 and other factors, support for home parenting due to social care gaps and systematization of public care for disaster preparedness will also be promoted.
