Seoul 706 - Gyeonggi 622 - Incheon 135, Total 1,463 Cases in the Seoul Metropolitan Area
According to the quarantine authorities, Seoul city, and other local governments on the 15th, a total of 1,855 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed nationwide from 0:00 to 9:00 PM on the same day. This is 86 fewer than the 1,941 cases reported at the same time the previous day.
Of the new cases, 1,463 (78.9%) were reported in the Seoul metropolitan area, and 392 (21.1%) were reported in non-metropolitan areas. By city and province, there were 706 cases in Seoul, 622 in Gyeonggi, 135 in Incheon, 56 in Busan, 50 in Chungnam, 46 in Daegu, 36 in Gangwon, 33 each in Daejeon and Gyeongbuk, 32 in Chungbuk, 31 in Ulsan, 28 in Gyeongnam, 17 in Jeonbuk, 12 in Gwangju, 11 in Jeju, 6 in Jeonnam, and 1 in Sejong.
Since there is still time until midnight, when the tally closes, the number of new confirmed cases announced as of 0:00 on the 16th is expected to increase. It is likely to reach the 2,000 range at most.
Looking at major infection cases, new cluster infections continued in various daily life settings. At high schools in Eunpyeong-gu and Gangdong-gu, Seoul, 12 and 14 people respectively tested positive. At middle schools in Songpa-gu, Seoul, and Seo-gu, Incheon, 11 and 15 cases were confirmed respectively.
