Platform workers refer to people who receive work and provide labor from online platform operators that connect suppliers and consumers of goods or services, thereby earning income.
This forum was prepared to respond to platform labor, a new form of labor mediated by online platforms.
The forum included platform labor experts, traffic safety officials from the provincial police agency, related public officials, and relevant organizations, who discussed various opinions on legislative issues and cases, as well as strengthening safety management for delivery workers.
Through this, it is expected to contribute to the protection of rights and improvement of working conditions for platform workers who are not adequately protected under the current Labor Standards Act.
Assemblyman Park said, "We must strive to solve and support issues such as the poor working conditions of platform workers, delivery traffic accidents, and high delivery fees," adding, "We should also work hard to build and expand a social safety net so that they can work in a safe environment and receive appropriate wages."
He continued, "We will collect the opinions discussed at this forum and promote the enactment of the ordinance," and said, "I hope that through this ordinance, the protection of platform workers' rights, improvement of working conditions, and establishment of a safe delivery culture will be well settled."
