Jeonnam Police Conduct Special Traffic Management During Chuseok Holiday
Ensuring Traffic Safety and Smooth Traffic Flow Management on Homecoming and Return Journeys
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Jeonnam Police Agency announced on the 14th that it will implement special traffic management measures to reduce traffic congestion on highways and national roads during the Chuseok holiday period.
This year's Chuseok is expected to see an increase in traffic volume due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic and expanded vaccination, and congestion is anticipated as traffic is concentrated in a short return period.
Accordingly, as the first phase, from the 13th to the 16th, the four days before the holiday, traditional markets and large marts, which are crowded places for holiday preparations, will be intensively managed.
As the second phase, from the 17th to the 22nd, including the Chuseok holiday for six days, a total of 2,062 personnel including traffic and local police, and riot police, along with 787 vehicles such as patrol cars and large motorcycles, will be deployed to ensure smooth traffic flow and safety on the outbound and return routes.
In addition, there will be focused crackdowns on traffic disorderly behaviors that worsen congestion, such as selfish driving (tailgating, cutting in, etc.), drunk driving, and speeding, and through intensive patrols in accident-prone areas, traffic accidents including major ones will be reduced.
To revitalize the local economy, which has been depressed due to the impact of COVID-19, parking and stopping will be allowed on roads around 61 traditional markets during the Chuseok holiday period to minimize inconvenience to residents.
