This support is a measure to completely separate the hospital flow lines of patients with respiratory disease symptoms from other medical visitors so that residents can use the hospital with peace of mind without worrying about COVID-19 infection. The Ministry of Health and Welfare also recommends installing one respiratory specialty clinic per 100,000 population.
As Mokpo Clinic has been designated as a respiratory specialty clinic, it received a subsidy of 100 million KRW (national funds) to equip facilities and equipment necessary for separating flow lines and treating respiratory diseases. Residents with respiratory symptoms such as fever, cough, and sore throat can receive not only primary care but also COVID-19 testing if necessary.
Governor Kim San said, “The respiratory specialty clinic is a medical facility to minimize care gaps and protect medical personnel and institutions from infection during the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.” He added, “We will do our best to ensure that all residents can receive safe medical care without worrying about infectious diseases.”
