Police Arrest 19 Including Owners and Customers at Illegal Entertainment Establishments in Gangnam-gu
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] The owner, hostesses, and customers involved in operating an illegal entertainment establishment in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, were raided by the police.
According to the police on the 14th, the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul apprehended a total of 19 people, including owner Lim Mo (49), hostesses, and customers, on charges of violating the Infectious Disease Control and Prevention Act.
Lim and others were caught during a special crackdown at around 1:05 a.m. on the 9th while operating in a building in Sinsa-dong, Gangnam-gu. The establishment displayed a sign for a general restaurant but was suspected of illegal operation as it did not open during the day.
At the time of the raid, there were 19 people in the store, including Lim, 5 customers, and 13 hostesses. The establishment was located in the basement level 1 of the building, equipped with 7 rooms, and was reportedly operated in a membership format.

The police also applied charges of violating the Food Sanitation Act (unauthorized business) to Lim and the hostesses and decided to forward the business records of the establishment to the relevant tax office.
