Gwangyang Steelworks Science and Technology Volunteer Group Delivers Longevity Photos to Local Seniors
Delivery of Longevity Photos to Elderly Residents at Gwangyang Silver Housing Welfare Center "Wishing You a Long Life"
Produced Using POSART Technology, POSCO's Proprietary Technique, Drawing Attention
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] POSCO Gwangyang Steelworks Science and Technology Talent Volunteer Group announced on the 13th that they delivered longevity portraits to the elderly residing at the Gwangyang Silver Housing Welfare Center.
The longevity portrait delivery ceremony is an event where POSCO employees with knowledge and expertise related to photography volunteer their talents to visit elderly residents near Gwangyang Steelworks, take their photos, and present framed pictures wishing for their long and healthy lives.
The delivery ceremony held at the office of the Chairman of the Gwangyang City Love Sharing Welfare Foundation was attended by Kim Jeom-hyeon, Secretary General of the Gwangyang City Love Sharing Welfare Foundation, Ahn Yu-mi, Director of the Gwangyang Silver Housing Welfare Center, and Kwon Young-deok, Head of the Science and Technology Talent Volunteer Group, among others.
Since April, employees of the POSCO Technical Research Institute have taken photos of 17 elderly residents living at the Gwangyang Silver Housing Welfare Center. After retouching, a total of 17 longevity portraits and 3 group photos were created and delivered.
What made this longevity portrait delivery ceremony particularly special was that the portraits were printed using POSCO’s proprietary PosART technology.
PosART, developed by the POSCO Technical Research Institute, is the world’s first premium printed steel sheet that applies inkjet printing technology to steel materials. It enables perfect full-color printing with a resolution up to four times higher than conventional printed steel sheets, allowing for precise designs.
PosART steel sheets can be used not only for high-end architectural interior and exterior materials but also for home appliance exteriors, luxury furniture and nameplates, commemorative frames, and more. It also proved its product innovation by winning the ‘Innovation of the Year Award’ at the 2019 Steelie Awards hosted by the World Steel Association.
Kwon Young-deok, head of the Science and Technology Talent Volunteer Group who attended the ceremony, said, “With Chuseok just around the corner, I am glad that we could give a meaningful gift to the elderly using POSCO’s technology,” adding, “I hope everyone has a bountiful and happy Chuseok just like the smiles captured in the photos.”
