On that day, National Assembly Speaker Park Byeong-seok submitted Yoon's resignation bill to the plenary session. The voting result was 188 in favor, 23 against, and 12 abstentions out of a total of 223 votes, passing the bill. Yoon had held a press conference on the 25th of last month and declared her resignation after allegations of her father's violation of the Farmland Act surfaced.
Before the vote, Yoon said, "The criticism that this is irresponsible to the local constituents is absolutely valid," and "I deeply apologize once again for requesting to resign in the middle of my term due to family matters." Yoon's constituency is Seocho-gu Gap, Seoul.
Yoon emphasized that she must take responsibility for her words. She explained, "The most important responsibility I think of is responsibility for words, accountability," and "Since I have been a sharp critic of the Moon Jae-in administration's real estate policy failures and double standards more than anyone else, my father's violation of the Farmland Act greatly undermines my statements. This is a part I must take responsibility for as a public figure."
She continued, "A member of the National Assembly is also a private individual," and added, "Regardless of how my father's actions are perceived, I must stand by him during the investigation process. This is also a responsibility I owe to the parents who raised me."

Yoon also addressed ruling party figures who said they would reject her resignation bill, stating, "After I announced my intention to resign, about 20 ruling party politicians branded me as a shameless criminal," and argued, "If this is not a conspiratorial politics involving baseless slander, these people should be the first to approve my resignation."
