Resumption of Power Generation in November Pending Approval from the Nuclear Safety and Security Commission After the 3rd Planned Preventive Maintenance
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] The Korean-style new-type pressurized water reactor Shin-Kori Nuclear Power Plant Unit 3 has stopped power generation and entered planned preventive maintenance, including fuel replacement.
Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Saeul Nuclear Power Headquarters announced that the 1.4 million kW-class pressurized water reactor Shin-Kori Unit 3 stopped power generation at 10:03 a.m. on the 11th and began its third planned preventive maintenance.
Shin-Kori Unit 3 achieved safe operation without any unplanned shutdowns for a total of 509 days since April 21, 2020.
It is evaluated to have once again proven the excellence and safety of the Korean-style new-type pressurized water reactor APR1400 by contributing to stable power supply during the summer peak electricity period.
During this planned preventive maintenance period, Saeul Headquarters plans to secure the safety of power generation facilities by performing nuclear fuel replacement, statutory inspections under the Nuclear Safety Act, and maintenance of major equipment and facilities.
