Jeonnam Fire Department Conducts Joint Earthquake Response and Water Rescue Training
Participation of 6 Organizations Including Gwangju 119 Special Rescue Team
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Jeonnam Fire Headquarters (Chief Ma Jaeyoon) Special Rescue Team announced on the 8th that it conducted a joint earthquake response water rescue drill at Jangheung Dam, Yuchi-myeon, Jangheung-gun.
The drill was co-hosted with the Central 119 Rescue Headquarters Honam Special Rescue Team and was carried out as a joint earthquake response water rescue operation in the Honam region.
More than 70 personnel from six organizations, including the Jeonnam Fire Headquarters Special Rescue Team, Gwangju 119 Special Rescue Team, Jeonbuk Fire Headquarters, Jeju Fire Headquarters, and Korea Water Resources Corporation, participated in the drill.
The rescuers assumed a scenario where multiple casualties occurred due to a bridge collapse caused by an earthquake and conducted search training using advanced equipment such as aerial rescue with fire helicopters, water rescue using high-speed boats, underwater sonar, and drones.
They also focused on intensive, field-centered training to cultivate response capabilities through cooperation among the Honam region special rescue teams.
Chief Ma Jaeyoon stated, “We will do our best to ensure the safety of the residents by maintaining a close response system with the Honam region special rescue teams for rapid response and life rescue in the event of water accidents and various disasters.”
