Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority Receives Prime Minister's Commendation for Utilizing Recycled Asphalt
Recognized for Direct and Indirect Construction Cost Reduction and Carbon Emission Effects
Leading Eco-Friendly Port Development Using 100% Recycled Asphalt Concrete
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority (President Cha Min-sik) announced on the 8th that it received the Prime Minister's Award, the highest honor, in recognition of its excellent performance in utilizing recycled asphalt at the 13th Resource Circulation Day event hosted by the Ministry of Environment.
The authority was praised for leading the use of recycled asphalt by proving the excellence of recycled aggregates through 100% use of recycled asphalt and thorough quality control in 2020 and 2021, starting with the first application of recycled asphalt at a port in 2019.
In particular, the authority explained that it was recognized for creating various social values by generating not only direct construction cost savings and indirect economic effects through the replacement of natural aggregates by utilizing recycled asphalt but also environmental benefits by reducing CO₂ emissions.
