Jeju Dongbu Police Station Arrests Voice Phishing Collector on 'National Stage'
[Jeju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Jeongpil] A voice phishing collector who extorted cash nationwide was caught by the police.
The Eastern Police Station of Jeju Police Agency announced on the 8th that they arrested A (23, female), who extorted tens of millions of won in cash from four victims in Cheonan, Suwon, Jeju, and other places.
A is accused of illegally extorting a total of 65.38 million won in four instances, including receiving 18 million won in cash from B (52, female) at a library parking lot in Jocheon-eup, Jeju City, around 2 p.m. on the 20th of last month.
Investigations revealed that the victims were deceived by claims of providing low-interest refinancing loans while impersonating financial institutions.
The police reportedly caught A in Chuncheon, where she resides.
