Claim Raised That Chairman Hong Won-sik Ordered Unfair Personnel Actions
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-seon] A female team leader who worked at Namyang Dairy Products claimed that she was demoted after taking parental leave and was assigned to a logistics warehouse upon returning to work. There are also allegations that Chairman Hong Won-sik directly intervened in the personnel decisions during this process.
According to an SBS report on the 7th, Choi, who joined the company in 2002 as part of the advertising team and became the youngest female team leader within six years, gave birth to her first child in her forties and took parental leave in 2015. Choi claimed that the company demoted her without any notice and that after returning to work, she performed simple tasks at a desk located between the delivery room and the pantry.
In 2017, Choi filed a petition with the Labor Commission seeking relief from unfair personnel assignments. The company reassigned her to the logistics center in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, and within less than a year, transferred her to a logistics warehouse in Cheonan. There are also claims that Chairman Hong ordered these unfair personnel moves.

In response, Namyang Dairy Products issued a statement saying, "The employee's claims related to parental leave were dismissed by the High Court, and legal proceedings are currently ongoing." The company added, "We support the use of parental leave for the legally stipulated period of one year, and up to a maximum of two years." Furthermore, they stated, "Namyang Dairy Products does not discriminate against employees due to parental leave," and "We will continue to strive to become a company that cares more for our customers and employees."
