Japan Reports 12,908 New COVID-19 Cases... Emergency Declaration Extension of 2-3 Weeks Under Review (Update)

According to NHK, 12,908 new COVID-19 cases were identified in Japan on that day (as of 6:30 PM).
As a result, Japan's cumulative confirmed cases rose to 1,575,219. The death toll increased by 31, reaching 16,373.
With the number of confirmed cases still exceeding 10,000, local media reported that the Japanese government is coordinating to extend the COVID-19 state of emergency declared in the metropolitan area and other regions.
Currently, among Japan's 47 prefectures, a COVID-19 state of emergency aimed at reducing population movement has been declared in 21 prefectures. The current deadline for the declaration is until the 12th.
The Japanese government is reportedly likely to extend the state of emergency for about 2 to 3 weeks in the four metropolitan prefectures, including Tokyo.
