According to foreign media including The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) on the 4th (local time), the number of deaths in the northeastern U.S. region flooded by Ida has risen to at least 62.
At least 27 people died in New Jersey and at least 16 in New York. In New Jersey alone, 4 people are missing, so the death toll may increase. Earlier, deaths were also reported in Pennsylvania and Connecticut.
In Louisiana in the southern U.S., where the power grid was cut off due to the hurricane, residents have been suffering as the heat wave continues. It is reported that 12 people died, including nursing home residents who died in a temporary shelter warehouse.
