Democratic Labor Union Announces General Strike Response Regarding Chairman Yang Kyung-soo's Detention
[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Jeong-min] The Blue House stated that it will strive for a smooth resolution as the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU) announced a general strike response related to the arrest of Chairman Yang Kyung-soo.
A senior Blue House official told reporters on the 2nd, "Just as the Health and Medical Workers' Union reached a dramatic settlement today, we hope that active negotiations between the two parties will lead to a smooth resolution," adding, "The government and the Blue House will both make efforts to achieve that."
The Blue House reiterated that attempts to reach agreements through tripartite dialogue among labor, management, and government have been a continuous effort of the Moon Jae-in administration and will continue to be so in the future.

Meanwhile, Yang Kyung-soo, chairman of the KCTU, was arrested on the 2nd on charges of leading illegal protests. The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency entered the KCTU office early that morning to execute the arrest warrant and took Chairman Yang into custody. In response, the KCTU conveyed its intention to retaliate with a general strike.
