Lotte Mart Reports 190.6% Increase in Alcohol Gift Set Sales for Chuseok
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chunhan] Lotte Mart announced on the 2nd that sales of alcoholic beverage gift sets increased by 190.6% compared to the previous year during the pre-order period for this year's Chuseok gift sets.
According to Lotte Mart, sales of whiskey and wine gift sets increased by 157.6% and 210.6%, respectively. This is analyzed to be influenced by the recent spread of the solo drinking trend due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which also affected gift set sales.
In particular, sales of single malt whiskey made from 100% barley as the raw material increased by 764.5%, and bourbon whiskey gift sets with a strong flavor, produced in the U.S. using corn as the main ingredient, increased by 346.7%. Lotte Mart prepared a variety of gift sets including single malt whiskeys such as Kavalan Distillery Select, Balvenie 14 Year Caribbean Cask, Glenlivet 12 Year, and bourbon whiskey gift sets like Wild Turkey 81.
For wine, sales of gift sets priced between 50,000 and 100,000 KRW increased by 209.8%. Accordingly, differentiated sets such as the U.S.-made Textbook set, Duckhorn Decoy set, French natural wine set, and Italian Donnafugata set were introduced in this price range.
