Jin Joong-kwon: "Kim Seung-won, who used 'GSGG', thinks he is above... Disrespecting the national system"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Juhee] Former Dongyang University professor Jin Joong-kwon criticized Democratic Party lawmaker Kim Seung-won, who used the expression "GSGG," reminiscent of a swear word, directed at National Assembly Speaker Park Byeong-seok, saying, "Hardline pro-Moon (親文) supporters among lawmakers are mocking the national system itself."
On the 31st of last month, Jin appeared on CBS Radio's "Hanpanseungbu" and said, "Saying that the judiciary is not sacred and inviolable, or cursing the National Assembly Speaker, is very frightening."
Earlier, on the same day when the amendment to the Media Arbitration Act failed to be submitted to the plenary session, lawmaker Kim posted on his Facebook, "Thank you very much, Park Byeong-seok. This will go down in history. GSGG," sparking controversy. The post implied that Speaker Park was responsible for the failure to submit the amendment to the plenary session. Some pointed out that the expression "GSGG" might be an acronym for the English pronunciation initials of a swear word "gaeXX."
As criticism spread, Kim explained in an interview with a media outlet that day, "The government should serve the general will of the people, so 'Government serve general G' was shortened to 'GSGG,' but since there were accusations that it was a vulgar term, I corrected it." However, he could not explain why the last initial 'G' stood for 'will.'
In response, former professor Jin criticized, "He is a first-term lawmaker who does not even see the National Assembly Speaker, thinking they are superior."
He also pointed out some lawmakers who expressed dissatisfaction with judicial rulings, saying, "(In court) there are lawyers and prosecutors. We must respect the results of their battles," adding, "However, they are making statements that deny the rulings as if they were the final court. This is a very dangerous statement."
