Naju-si, Bitgaram-dong Apartment 'COVID-19 Mass Testing' Completed
[Naju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Naju City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Kang In-gyu) announced on the 31st that it has completed the proactive mass testing by apartment complex in Bitgaram-dong, conducted for two weeks to block the spread of COVID-19.
The test was conducted from the 17th to the 30th of this month, targeting 19 apartment complexes in Bitgaram-dong, totaling 15,634 households, with temporary screening clinics operated by dividing them into two complexes in the morning and afternoon.
The Naju quarantine authorities explained that the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the local community significantly decreased after the testing compared to before, and that it created an atmosphere encouraging voluntary participation in testing.
According to the quarantine authorities, due to the rapid spread of the Delta variant virus, a total of 23 COVID-19 confirmed cases occurred from the 1st of this month until the day before the mass testing started on the 16th.
From the 17th, when the mass testing began, until the day before the end date, the number of confirmed cases was recorded as 8, a decrease of about 65% compared to before.
The number of tests increased significantly from 13,179 last month to 28,572 this month.
Mayor Kang In-gyu said, “In preparation for the nationwide spread of the Delta virus, please refrain from traveling to other regions and minimize face-to-face contact as much as possible, and regardless of symptoms after visiting other regions, get tested at screening clinics.”
Meanwhile, the Naju area is currently applying and enforcing the revised ‘Social Distancing Level 3’ to block the spread of the COVID-19 Delta variant.
Private gatherings are allowed up to ‘4 people,’ including vaccinated individuals, until the 5th of next month.
Five types of entertainment facilities (entertainment, karaoke, emotional pubs, clubs/nightclubs, hunting pubs), as well as colatecs and coin karaoke rooms, are restricted from operating from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the next day.
Restaurants (general food, rest, bakery, etc.) and cafes are also only allowed takeout and delivery from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the next day, and convenience store outdoor tables cannot be used during these hours.
Weddings are allowed up to 99 people, but meals inside the venue are limited to 49 people. Funeral halls are limited to ‘fewer than 50 attendees,’ with one person per 4㎡ of facility area.
Religious facilities may hold worship, mass, or Buddhist services with up to 20% of total seating capacity, and separate gatherings, meals, or overnight stays after events are prohibited.
