COVID-19 New Cases 1,372... Drops to 1,300s for the First Time in 14 Days

The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency's Central Disease Control Headquarters announced that as of midnight on that day, the cumulative number of COVID-19 cases increased by 1,372 from the previous day to 251,421. The sources of infection for the new cases were 1,333 local transmissions and 39 imported cases.
Among the locally transmitted cases, 944 cases, accounting for 70.8%, occurred in the Seoul metropolitan area. This includes 452 in Seoul, 420 in Gyeonggi, and 72 in Incheon.
There were 389 cases outside the metropolitan area. By region, the confirmed cases were ▲Busan 44 ▲Daegu 50 ▲Gwangju 17 ▲Daejeon 34 ▲Ulsan 24 ▲Sejong 8 ▲Gangwon 29 ▲Chungbuk 15 ▲Chungnam 38 ▲Jeonbuk 26 ▲Jeonnam 13 ▲Gyeongbuk 27 ▲Gyeongnam 56 ▲Jeju 8.
There were 39 imported cases. Among them, 13 were detected during quarantine, and 26 were confirmed locally. There were 18 Korean nationals and 21 foreigners.
The total number of tests conducted the previous day was 165,339. At temporary screening clinics set up in the metropolitan area, 106,203 tests were conducted, and 14,101 people were tested at temporary screening clinics outside the metropolitan area.
As the government has set a goal to raise the first-dose vaccination rate to 70% by Chuseok, citizens are waiting to receive vaccines at the vaccination center set up at Chungmu Sports Center in Jung-gu, Seoul on the 30th. The number of fully vaccinated individuals increased by 598,553 from the previous day to 15,218,638. The vaccination rate for the second dose relative to the population is 29.6%. Among those who received the first dose of the AZ vaccine, 508,265 received their second dose with AZ, and 28,245 received their second dose with Pfizer. Additionally, 45,215 people received a second dose of Pfizer only, and 7,190 completed their second dose with Moderna. The 9,638 people vaccinated with the single-dose Janssen vaccine are counted as fully vaccinated upon their first dose.
