Gwangju Nam-gu to Monitor 'One-Time Item Reduction' Starting September
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (District Mayor Kim Byeong-nae) plans to operate a single-use items monitoring team for three months from September to the end of November.
Nam-gu has classified its 17 neighborhoods into three zones and will deploy three monitoring teams to conduct inspections on the usage status of single-use items five times each month, totaling 15 times.
In particular, to reduce the usage of single-use items within the district, the teams will visit businesses to provide guidance and education on regulations regarding single-use items and actively inform them about the correct methods for separating recyclable materials.
The monitoring teams will be operated to inspect the usage status of single-use items at regulated business sites and to promote efforts to reduce the use of single-use items.
The targets include 3,737 locations such as food service establishments, food manufacturing and processing companies, instant sales manufacturing and processing companies, collective cafeterias, and wholesale and retail businesses within the district.
A Nam-gu official stated, "We ask for your utmost restraint in using single-use items to protect our precious natural environment and to increase resource recycling."
