According to NHK data as of 6 p.m. on the 29th, the number of new COVID-19 cases in Japan was 19,312. This is a decrease of 3,438 from the previous day and 2,983 from a week ago.
The daily number of cases fell below 20,000 for the first time since the 23rd, when 16,836 cases were reported. The total cumulative number of COVID-19 cases in Japan has risen to 1,460,027. The death toll increased by 49 in one day, reaching 15,970.
