Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju, Offers Free Use of 'Multi-Purpose Sterilizers' for Strollers and Wheelchairs
Installation of Administrative Welfare Centers in Cheomdan 2-dong, Sinchang-dong, and Unnam-dong
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Kim Samho) announced that it is operating a ‘multi-purpose sterilizer’ free of charge, which can sterilize and disinfect items that are difficult to sanitize at home, such as strollers, wheelchairs, car seats, large toys, and walking aids for the elderly.
According to Gwangsan-gu, the sterilization time of the multi-purpose sterilizer is within 2 minutes, and any resident can easily use it by following the voice guidance.
Through processes including fine dust removal, disinfectant spraying, and eco-friendly LED ultraviolet sterilization, it sterilizes and disinfects 99.9% of various bacteria and viruses.
Additionally, it is equipped with safety devices that automatically stop the sterilizer if a person enters inside or if the door is opened during sterilization, allowing users to use it with peace of mind.
The multi-purpose sterilizers are installed at the first-floor entrances of the Cheomdan 2-dong, Sinchang-dong, and Unnam-dong Administrative Welfare Centers.
They are available for use by anyone from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays. In the case of Cheomdan 2-dong and Sinchang-dong, they can be used regardless of weekday or weekend hours.
A Gwangsan-gu official stated, “Providing a public service that can sterilize items such as strollers and wheelchairs that are difficult to disinfect or clean is expected to help alleviate anxiety about COVID-19 and boost immunity.”
Meanwhile, Gwangsan-gu will conduct a user satisfaction survey for the multi-purpose sterilizer until next month. They plan to identify satisfaction levels and dissatisfaction factors regarding the sterilizer to improve services and consider expanding installations in the future.
