Corpus Korea Reports Operating Profit of 4.7 Billion KRW in H1, Up 107.5% YoY
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] Corpus Korea, a company specializing in Hallyu content, announced its Q2 2021 earnings on the 27th through a public disclosure.
Corpus Korea's consolidated Q2 sales and operating profit for this year were 7.3 billion KRW and 2.9 billion KRW, respectively. This represents an increase of 42.1% and 102.2% compared to the same period last year. On a cumulative basis for Q2, sales were 13.7 billion KRW, operating profit 4.7 billion KRW, and net profit 3.5 billion KRW. These figures increased by 45.0%, 107.5%, and 87.3% respectively compared to the same period last year.
A company representative stated, "Due to the consecutive declarations of a state of emergency in Japan recently, the spread of non-face-to-face culture and increased time spent at home have accelerated the growth of the OTT market. The Hallyu wave continues as many Hallyu contents rank on the popularity charts of OTT platforms in Japan, which has been directly reflected in our strong performance." They added, "The content supply service contract with Amazon Prime Video signed last April began to be recognized as partial revenue from Q2, and the remaining content supply schedule for the second half of the year is proceeding smoothly."
