[2022 Early Admission] Samyuk University Establishes 'General Admission' Combining Coursework + Interview
Samyook University will select a total of 845 students (804 within the quota, 41 outside the quota) in the 2022 academic year early admission.
The number of recruits by admission type is △ Student Record Excellence Admission 241 △ General Admission 184 △ Seum Talent Admission 144, etc. This year, a new General Admission was established, which evaluates both academic records and interviews evenly, with interviews accounting for 40%, making it advantageous for students confident in interviews.
In the General Admission, in the first stage, candidates are selected at five times the quota by combining academic records (80%), attendance (10%), and volunteer work (10%). In the second stage, final successful candidates are selected by combining grades (60%) and interviews (40%). Only the top 3 subjects (50%, 35%, 15%) are reflected, and the score difference between grades 1 to 5 is only 0.5 points, so the interview determines the outcome. Anyone with a high school equivalent or higher qualification, including domestic GED holders and overseas high school graduates, can apply. The minimum CSAT requirement applies only to the Department of Pharmacy (within grade 5 in the sum of 3 subjects among Korean, English, Math, and one science subject).
The Student Record Excellence Admission, which selects the most students, reflects 100% of the student record in all departments except arts and physical education. The Art and Design Department and Music Department apply 20% student record and 80% practical skills, and the Department of Physical Education applies 60% student record and 40% practical skills. The student record reflects grades from all years without weighting. General departments reflect all subjects in Korean, English, Math, and social/science inquiry, while Art and Design and Music departments select and reflect the top 2 subjects among all subjects.
The Student Record Excellence Admission applies the minimum CSAT requirement from this year except for arts and physical education. General departments must have a combined grade within 6 for any 2 subjects among Korean, English, Math, and one inquiry subject. The Department of Pharmacy requires a combined grade within 5 for 3 subjects. With the application of the minimum CSAT requirement from this year, it is expected that the academic grades of successful candidates will significantly decrease compared to the previous year.
