Interpark Tour, 2022 Overseas Flight Ticket DB Analysis
MyRealTrip, Service Informing Travel Destinations Without Quarantine
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] As the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic has halted overseas travel for over a year, the suppressed demand for international trips is beginning to stir. Recently, with the increase in domestic vaccination rates, expectations for the resumption of overseas travel have grown, leading more people to pre-select preferred destinations and book airline tickets in advance.
According to an analysis by Interpark Tour on the demand for overseas airline tickets departing next year, popular destinations include Hawaii, Guam, Bangkok, Singapore, and the Maldives. The top preferred city for departures next year is Hawaii, which ranked first in advance bookings for both June (34%) and July (24%) of this year. Following Hawaii, Guam also showed high booking shares in June (7%) and July (12%). Both Hawaii and Guam have highly developed tourism infrastructure, allowing visitors to enjoy beautiful natural environments in well-managed accommodations. They are considered suitable 'post-COVID travel destinations' for relaxing in nature.
Other preferred cities besides Hawaii and Guam include Bangkok, Singapore, and the Maldives. These are also well-established, famous travel destinations with developed tourism infrastructure. In the post-COVID era, safety and travel environment are interpreted as the most important factors being considered.
An Interpark Tour official explained, "With vaccinations actively progressing, it is predicted that movements to travel overseas will gradually resume around next year, and the demand for purchasing airline tickets in advance is also steadily increasing."
