On the 26th, at Jade Palace Golf Club in Chuncheon, Gangwon Province (par 72, 6,735 yards), the first day of the third major of the 2021 KLPGA Tour, the Hanwha Classic (total prize money 1.4 billion KRW), she shot 5 under par to dominate the top of the leaderboard. Two-time champion Lee Somi (SBI Savings Bank) and Hwang Jeongmi (Q Capital Partners) are tied for second place (4 under par, 68 strokes), while as many as 11 players including Choi Hyejin (Lotte) and Lee Gayoung (NH Investment & Securities, both 22) are tied for fourth place (3 under par, 69 strokes) in pursuit.
Kim Haerim collected six birdies and one bogey. She made consecutive birdies on holes 1 and 2, a birdie on hole 7 (par 3), and then consecutive birdies on holes 11 and 12. The bogey on hole 13 was recovered with a birdie on hole 15 (also par 3), promising a strong second round. She leads by one stroke, aiming for her second win of the season and eighth career victory since winning the McCol·Monapark Open last month. "Thanks to my tee shots not missing the fairway, I was able to score well," she said. "I will play aggressively in the remaining rounds."
