Despite the victim being in a critical condition unconscious, the man failed to provide appropriate emergency measures and even made a false report to 119.
On the 24th, a petition titled "I am the mother of a daughter who died after being assaulted by her boyfriend" was posted on the Blue House National Petition Board. The petitioner, who identified herself as the mother of the deceased woman, said, "I am burying my daughter who has turned to ashes and am on the verge of losing my mind, but I am forcing myself to write this to clear my daughter's injustice."
She continued, "The perpetrator who caused my daughter's death is her boyfriend," and added, "On July 25th at around 2:50 a.m., the perpetrator repeatedly assaulted my daughter’s head and abdomen while moving back and forth between the first-floor external corridor and the elevator in her officetel."
The petitioner explained, "(The perpetrator) grabbed my daughter's head, pushed her against the wall several times causing her to fall, climbed on top of her, pressed down with his knees, and punched her head?an unthinkable and merciless violence that no human should inflict on another."
When 119 arrived, the victim was already in cardiac arrest. The petitioner said, "At the emergency room, they said the brain hemorrhage was too severe to treat, so they forcibly kept her heart beating and put her on a ventilator. My daughter endured in the intensive care unit for three weeks before passing away," expressing her grief.
She added, "Our family is enduring each day in the agony of a world collapsing," and lamented, "But the perpetrator is still roaming the streets as if nothing happened. They say it is a non-custodial investigation. The perpetrator has not even come to the hospital or the funeral," expressing her outrage.
The petitioner claimed, "Normally, when someone loses consciousness and collapses, the first thing to do is to call 119 immediately," and stated, "The perpetrator moved my daughter elsewhere to cover up his crime, made a false report to 119 after a long delay, and deliberately neglected my collapsed daughter, missing the golden time for treatment. This behavior clearly shows intent to kill."
The incident occurred in the early morning of the 25th of last month at an officetel in Mapo-gu, Seoul. According to the police, a man in his 30s, Mr. A, started assaulting the victim, Ms. B, after an argument in the lobby of her home.
When Ms. B lost consciousness due to the severe assault, Mr. A falsely reported to 119, saying, "My girlfriend seems to have hit her head while drunk." Ms. B was transported to a nearby hospital and received treatment but remained in a coma for about a month before ultimately passing away on the 17th.
