Couple Found Dead in Detached House While Sleeping... Is 'Gas' from Underground Parking the Cause?
Gas Smell at the Accident Scene
[Asia Economy Reporter Na Ye-eun] A couple sleeping in a detached house in Okcheon, Chungbuk, was found dead, and the police are investigating.
According to the Okcheon Police Station on the 23rd, at around 7:45 a.m. that day, their son (29) discovered A (62) and B (56), who were married, dead and reported it to the police. A was found in a room on the first floor, and B was found in the living room on the second floor, with no signs of trauma or external intrusion.
The son stated that there was a gas smell inside the house at the time of the report, and it was also reported that the gas smell remained when the police arrived at the scene. Although an electric stove was installed in A’s house, there were no gas-related facilities, and no butane gas canisters were found.
However, B’s gasoline passenger car was found in the underground parking lot of the house with the engine running overnight until the fuel was exhausted.
A police official said, "We believe that the vehicle in the sealed underground parking lot was idling for a long time, producing exhaust fumes," and added, "We are keeping open the possibility that the gas filling the parking lot seeped into the rooms and will determine the exact cause of the accident."
At the time of the accident, A’s son said he was sleeping in the master bedroom on the second floor but had left the window open.
