[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyun-jung] On the 23rd, Kim Hyun-soo, Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, chaired an emergency inspection meeting at the Agricultural Disaster Countermeasures Situation Room to review the agricultural sector's response to the approaching Typhoon No. 12 ‘Omais’ and post-typhoon measures.
Minister Kim emphasized maintaining a special preparedness posture until the typhoon ends, considering the weakened ground and agricultural facilities due to continuous rain caused by the recent stationary front. He rechecked the management status of drainage pumps and reservoirs, inspected orchard trellis and shelter facilities to minimize fruit drop damage, secured vinyl greenhouses, reviewed measures to minimize crop damage such as rice and vegetables, and ensured safety management of livestock facilities and mountain solar power facilities.
Additionally, he urged prompt implementation of emergency recovery measures after the typhoon, including immediate damage assessment, pest and disease control, support for emergency restoration manpower, agricultural machinery repair support, livestock quarantine and medical support, and on-site technical support for vegetable growth management.
