Busan, Chungnam, Jeonnam, and Gyeongnam Regions Landslide Warning Upgraded from 'Interest' to 'Caution'
[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Landslide warnings in the Busan, Chungnam, Jeonnam, and Gyeongnam regions have been upgraded from "interest" to "caution."
The Korea Forest Service announced on the 23rd that, due to the northward approach of Typhoon No. 12 "Omais," the landslide crisis warning for these four regions will be raised starting at 2 p.m. Other regions will maintain the "interest" level of the landslide crisis warning.
Currently, the Korea Meteorological Administration expects strong and heavy rainfall nationwide from the 23rd to the 24th as the typhoon and low-pressure system pass over the Korean Peninsula.
In particular, according to the regional rainfall forecast by the National Institute of Forest Science, rainfall exceeding 220mm is predicted in the Busan, Chungnam, Jeonnam, and Gyeongnam regions from 9 a.m. on the 23rd to 6 p.m. on the 24th.
Accordingly, the Korea Forest Service is taking preemptive measures against landslides, focusing on vulnerable and high-risk areas, and plans to hold a situation assessment meeting at 6 p.m. to consider further raising the landslide crisis warning depending on the situation in each region.
