Idus Wins '2021 Red Dot Award: Best of the Best'
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheolhyun] Backpacker (CEO Kim Donghwan), the operator of 'Idus,' announced on the 23rd that it won the main prize in the Brand Communication Design category at the 2021 Red Dot Award.
The Red Dot Award is considered one of the world's top three design competitions alongside Germany's 'iF Design Award' and the United States' 'IDEA Design Award.' It selects creative and innovative works every year, with numerous brands worldwide participating.
This year, the Red Dot Award received over 7,800 entries from more than 60 countries, with 50 global design experts participating in a blind review process.
Last year, Backpacker conducted a rebranding to celebrate the 6th anniversary of Idus's service. The rebranding expressed Idus's philosophy by symbolizing 'thread,' which represents the connection between handmade artists and customers as well as linking customers' tastes, embodying the meaning of 'connecting the unique stories and preferences of handmade items.'
Currently, 250,000 handcrafted artists active in Korea are registered on Idus, and 5 million customers use the platform monthly. The service is being offered in various fields centered on the market platform, including online hobby classes, shared workshops, offline stores, artist support stores, and dining pubs.
