Popular Electric Vehicle Charging Stations for Travelers: "Naerincheon and Anseong Rest Areas"
Reasons Include Nearby Convenience Facilities Location and Graceful Scenery
[Asia Economy Reporter Changhwan Lee] Naerimcheon Rest Area and Anseong Rest Area were selected as the best charging stations recommended by electric vehicle travelers.
On the 21st, Softberry, an eco-friendly mobility platform company, conducted a survey titled "The Best Charging Stations I Have Visited During Travel and Vacation" targeting 500 users of the electric vehicle charging information app 'EV Infra.' According to the survey, the top five charging stations that provided the best experience were all rest areas.
Among all responses, 27.7% chose charging stations located at rest areas as the best. This is interpreted as most users visiting rest areas as stopovers to charge while traveling to their destinations.
With over 20,000 electric vehicle charging stations nationwide, respondents mentioned more than 250 different charging stations. Among them, Naerimcheon Rest Area on the Seoul-Yangyang Expressway and Anseong Rest Area on the Gyeongbu Expressway, each selected by 16 respondents, jointly took first place.
Most respondents who chose Naerimcheon Rest Area cited the beautiful surrounding scenery of the charging station as their reason for selecting the location. Those who chose Anseong Rest Area pointed to the presence of fast chargers and a sufficient number of chargers as reasons for their choice.
Regarding reasons for recommending their chosen charging station, 21.4% of respondents selected "proximity to nearby convenience facilities." Respondents who chose "scenery near the charging station" accounted for 18.4%.
Following these were proximity while driving (11.5%), ample number of chargers (8.1%), and availability of fast charging (6.5%). This suggests that many users of charging stations during travel value nearby convenience facilities and scenery that allow them to enjoy their waiting time while charging.
When asked about the best charging station region visited during travel or vacation, Gyeongsang Province received the highest selection at 26.6%. This was followed by Gyeonggi Province (20.5%), Gangwon Province (19.6%), Chungcheong Province (9.6%), and Seoul (9.2%).
Some respondents who chose Gyeongsang Province, which ranked first, cited the proximity of the sea and the good surrounding scenery as advantages. These respondents appear to perceive the brief time enjoying nature around the charging station as a small rest during their travels.
When electric vehicle charging is needed during travel or vacation, the criterion for selecting a charging station overwhelmingly ranked first with 46.8% of respondents choosing "proximity while driving."
