Wanju-gun Supplies Local Food to Songpa, Seoul

[Wanju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Han-ho] Wanju-gun's local food will expand to Songpa-gu following Gangdong-gu in Seoul.

On the 20th, Wanju-gun announced that it signed a non-face-to-face business agreement with Gangdong-gu, Songpa-gu, and Andong-si for 'urban-rural win-win public meal cross-supply.'

Wanju-gun and Gangdong-gu, the first participants in the urban-rural win-win supply meal program, have been supplying Wanju-gun ingredients to 200 public institutions such as daycare centers and welfare facilities in Gangdong-gu since 2017.

Also, Andong-si has been supplying ingredients through a business agreement with Songpa-gu since 2019.

This cross-supply business agreement aims to diversify the variety of ingredient items.

Through this, Wanju-gun's local food will be provided to Songpa-gu, and Andong-si will supply necessary ingredients to Gangdong-gu.

The urban-rural win-win public meal program operates by directly trading local agricultural products through a one-to-one matching between basic local governments in Seoul and agricultural production area local governments.

The program started with the purpose that producers can secure a stable market for supplying local agricultural products, and consumers can receive excellent ingredients delivered from seasonal production areas.

However, since one-to-one matching is the principle, it was difficult to prepare a variety of eco-friendly ingredients.

Therefore, Gangdong-gu, matched with Wanju-gun, and Songpa-gu, matched with Andong-si, complemented each other's ingredients through the business agreement.

Park Seong-il, the governor of Wanju-gun, said, "The cross-supply agreement has made it possible to expand stable sales channels," and added, "We will do our best to diversify supply items and provide safe food through planned production."

Meanwhile, Wanju-gun and Gangdong-gu are the most active places for urban-rural win-win cooperation nationwide, supplying 1.8 billion KRW worth of Wanju ingredients annually not only to public meals but also to Gangdong-gu's direct sales stores.
