According to Muan County, they cannot understand the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's attempt to insert a phrase stating that the timing of the integrated relocation of Muan International Airport and Gwangju civilian airport will be decided by comprehensively considering the status of the military airport relocation promotion and local opinions, and demanded the immediate withdrawal of the 6th Comprehensive Airport Development Plan that ignores the opinions of Muan residents.
The Promotion Committee stated, "Not finalizing the integration timing of the civilian airport solely for the benefit of the Gwangju area and reflecting even the military airport relocation issue is clearly a deceptive tactic to relocate the Gwangju Air Force Base together with the civilian airport to Muan County," and strongly urged the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport to make a policy decision to promote the integration of Muan International Airport and Gwangju civilian airport by 2021, separate from the military airport relocation issue that ignites regional conflict.
They also expressed their determination, saying, "If the contents of the statement are not accepted, we will not only visit the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport to protest but also continue to respond until the will of the county residents is realized."
